Chiropractic Care

About Paul Bambara D.C.

Chiropractic is a complementary medical practice that treats problems with the musculoskeletal system including neck and low back pain, headaches and extremity joint pain. The musculoskeletal system is made up of muscles, bones, joints cartilage and tendons. This system supports a person’s body and allows them to move and protects the organs.

Back pain is one of the most common health complaints among adults in the US. It has been determinate in recent 2017 surveys that 54% of adults had ongoing neck and low back pain symptoms for at least five years or longer.

Chiropractic manipulation is the application of a gentle safe procedure which allows the chiropractor to realign the spinal bones called vertebrae to restore normal alignment thus relieving pain and providing the patient with a normal range of motion in addition to restoring normal flexibility. The intricate biomechanics of the spine can be improved considerably after receiving a chiropractic manipulation.

After a detailed history is taken and physical exam is performed, a variety of physical medicine modalities including ultrasound, interferential muscle stimulation and vibration therapy may be administered to the patient to relax the soft tissue elements i.e.: muscles, tendon and pain to spinal manipulation.

Diagnosis is an extremely important objective om the care of each patient and may sometimes require the need for diagnostic testing including spinal x-rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and EMG testing.

Ergonomic assessments are also analyzed when taking a history of the patients to determine the reason why ongoing pain may exist. Once analyzed, the patient is then given advice on lifestyle changes at home and work as well as specific exercise plans.

The chiropractor will also work closely with the medical practitioner if necessary for the patients overall best interest in determining the appropriate standard of care for each individual patient.
